To see the molecule in '3-D', you need to use the "cross-eyed" method.

If have trouble crossing your eyes, this may help:

  1. Sit about 2 ft. away from the monitor (or if you're lucky enough to be able to print this on a color dye-sub printer... the printout :). The image should be roughly eye level.
  2. Look straight ahead at the image, hold out your arm and thumb as though you are trying to look through your thumbnail. The top of your thumb should be level with the top of the image and centered between the two images.
  3. Keep your head still, relax your eyes and keep looking at your thumbnail as you slowly move your thumb towards your nose.
  4. When your thumb touches your nose, look "through" your thumb towards the image. If everything went well, you'll see three images. The one in the middle will be in focus and in '3-D'.
  5. Keep trying if it doesn't work for you the first time. Some people are able to see it immediately, while most need a few tries. Have fun!
