The Waters Quattro II triple quadrupole LC mass spectrometer is a tandem mass spectrometer equipped with electrospray ionization (ESI) and atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI) sources. Mass range is m/z 4000 with unit mass resolution. Sensitivity is 5 ng/µL of raffinose. The spectrometer can perform the following triple quad experiments: Selective Reaction Monitoring (SRM), Multiple Reaction Monitoring (MRM), full scan, product ion scan, precursor ion scan, and neutral loss scan.
The LC system is a Waters Alliance HPLC consisting of gradient HPLC pumps, refrigerated auto sampler, and dual-wavelength UV absorbance detector for LC-UV-MS-MS analyses. This instrument is used for the structural characterization of polar molecules and for quantitative analysis of low molecular weight compounds such as peptides, drugs, and drug metabolites.
The Micromass Quattro II was installed in 1997 and was purchased with support from an NIH grant to Dr. Richard B. van Breemen.
