The Waters Q-Tof2 is a high resolution hybrid orthogonal angle-Time of Flight (oa-TOF) tandem LC mass spectrometer and is equipped with electrospray ionization (ESI), nano-electrospray ionization (for proteomics applications), and atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI) sources. Mass range is m/z 10,000 with resolution of 10,000 full scan. The Q-Tof2 features a quadrupole mass filter and collision cell for high resolution MS/MS analyses.
The LC system is a Waters Alliance HPLC consisting of gradient HPLC pumps, refrigerated auto sampler, and dual-wavelength UV absorbance detector for LC-UV-MS-MS. The QTOF-2 is capable of exact mass measurements for elemental composition determinations as well as high-resolution tandem mass spectrometry for structural elucidation.
The QTOF-2 was acquired in 2000 through the UIC/NIH Botanical Center for Dietary Supplements Research (directed by Dr. Norman Farnsworth and co-directed by Dr. Richard B. van Breemen).
